BRIX in Global Public Transport Summit in Stockholm
From the 9th to the 12th of June, a BRIX delegation, comprised of BRIX Chairman Ulf Sandmark and board member Lydia Liu, took part in the UITP Global Public Transport Summit in Stockholm to bring the Belt and Road Initiative to the 350 exhibitors and 2,500 participants for three days. The BRIX members met with both Chinese and Swedish companies and many others informing about the BRIX and exchanging contacts. They also attended the presentations by Huawei, the China railway company CRRC and others from the Middle East and North Africa. Fruitful discussions and exchanges were made.
The 2019 UITP Global Public Transport Summit was held at the Stockholm Convention and Exhibition Centre (Älvsjö Mässan) from 9 to 12 June. On the last day, the BRIX members visited the China Railway Tunnel Company in the morning and visited the China Car Company and the booths of Sweden and Germany. They also participated in the Transport Seminar on the Construction of the Future Middle East and North Africa. The exhibitors they visited were very interested in the work of BRIX, which they believed was a very important and meaningful work.
The 130-year old UITP Biennial Summit is the worlds largest public transport and sustainable transport exhibition event. The 2019 Stockholm UITP Exhibition, entitled The Art of Public Transport, covered all urban and regional modes of transport across the globe. The Summit exhibited leading and diversified design and planning that showcases the greatest innovations, solutions and products offered by the transport industry.
Stockholm has made great achievements in public transport design, making the Swedish capital the perfect place to hold a summit (classic case: Stockholm Art Metro Station). The art of public transport has become an art form in the capital, Stockholm, creating a better environment for all people, and showing different arts to enjoy the beauty of people and improving the quality of life.
2019 UITP brought together about 350 exhibitors and about 13,000 visitors. Exhibitors included industry leader GIRO, VDL, Volvo, Alstom, Scania, Daimler, Bombardier, Solaris bus and train producers. Giant Chinese companies, such as Huawei, were joined by a number of companies from the domestic transport industry participating in the exhibition, Jiangsu Qishuyan Rail Transit Industrial Park, Alfabus Europa, besides CRRC and China Railway Tunnel Group (CRTG).
